How to view supporting files?

Here, you can view the supporting files submitted by the author at submission. This typically includes one of more of the following files: 

  1. Cover letter 
  2. Journal publishing agreement 
  3. Figures 
  4. Tables 
  5. And other miscellaneous files  

Note: The types of files and mandatory files that will appear here and configured based on your publisher’s needs. 

Additionally, during revisions, 2 commonly added files include: 

  1. Revised manuscript with track changes 
  2. Point by point response document 

View cover letter 

  1. Click on the 'Cover letter' tab to view the cover letter.  
  2. Use the 'Download cover letter' button to download the document.  
  3. To replace the cover letter, click the 'Replace' button. This is useful if the author has incorrectly uploaded the wrong file or wishes to change the file and has mailed it to the editorial board/helpdesk. 
  4. Based on your publisher’s blinding policy, typically the cover letter would be automatically hidden from reviewers.  
  5. The 'Hide cover letter from reviewers' checkbox is defaultly turned on to safeguard sensitive information from reviewers. 

 

View Figures 

Here you can view all the separate figures submitted by the author to support the manuscript. 

  1. Click on the 'Figures' tab to view the figures.  
  2. Each figure is shown as a thumbnail preview. Click on the thumbnail and the image will open up in a larger preview pane to view the image in full size. 
  3. You can also download individual figures or use the ‘Download figures as single PDF’ to view the figures offline. 
  4. Use the ‘Add new’ option to upload new figures in case the author has mailed across figures to be added that they missed at submission. You can also delete unnecessary figure if need be. 
  5. Click on the ‘Hide figures from reviewers’ checkbox individually or for all figures, to blind sensitive figures from reviewers. 

 

Note: If authors have embedded figures in the manuscript itself instead of uploading separately, you would have already seen them in the manuscript content pane. Those embedded figures will not appear here. 

View supplementary files 

Here, all other types of supporting files added by the author would be viewable. 

  1. Click on the 'Supplementary files' tab to view the supplementary files.  
  2. Click on the thumbnail to open or download the files. 
  3. Add new supplementary files by selecting the ‘Add new’ option, if the author has missed any files and mailed across to be added.  
  4. Download supplementary files using the ‘Download supplementary files’ to view them offline. 
  5. Click on the ‘Hide supplementary files from reviewers’ checkbox individually or for all figures, to blind sensitive figures from reviewers.
