3. Primary citation:
- Usually, the citation of equation mentioned at first in the manuscript is considered as primary citation.
- The other equations are termed as passing citations which will be sequentially ordered depending on the primary citation.
4. Skip a citation:
- If we include a citation for Equation 3 between citations of Equation 1 and Equation 2, the order of equations will change accordingly.
- Consequently, the positions of the equation in the manuscript will change, as the equations are placed directly after their respective citations.
- To prevent this, the 'Skip a citation' option allows us to skip the citation of the equation in between, thus maintaining the equation positions.
Note: Check whether all the equations are cited/ marked as passing citation before using ‘Skip a citation’ option.
