What is the issue that requires troubleshooting in this case ?
In this case, the Appendix appears before the references. This will cause it to be tagged as normal body text and not as an appendix.
Where is the fault ?
If any figure or a similar float which is a part of Appendix, it will be treated as a normal float in the body, and not as Appendix float. This will cause issues as the article moves to the further stages.
(The following screenshots shows how the structure content stage will appear when the manuscript with the wrong order of Appendix is loaded)
What should a Level 1 support person do if they encounter such an error?
Take the following steps
Place the appendix after the references
Make sure the appropriate headings for “References” and “Appendix” are tagged. The reason being, the system expects there should be a heading for references as well as Appendix.
Redo the structure content after carrying out steps mentioned in point 1 and point 2 by reloading the corrected manuscript.
(The following screenshot shows how the structure content stage will appear when we load the corrected manuscript and tag the appropriate headings)
