 State options

This shows you the current ‘state’ of the article.

  1. By default, all articles are in a ‘Normal’ state.
  2. Managing editors/Editorial assistants can mark an article as ‘On-hold’ if an article’s progression must be temporarily paused for a particular reason.
  3. Typically, this is used in cases where authors are unavailable for a period of time for revisions, or if article processing charges have not been paid etc.
  4. These can later be marked back to the normal state as desired.
  5. Similarly, they can also mark an article as ‘Fast track’ to indicate its urgency to the editors.

Stage history

This shows you a brief summary of the article's history.

Here you can:

  • View the current stage the article is in

  • View the current assignee name

  • View the current assignee’s due date for the stage

  • This enables you to reassign the article to an alternate user or to change the due date for the stage.

  • This is typically done by managing editors/editorial assistants based on circumstances like editor unavailability, requests for extensions etc.
