How to categorize the contents?

  1. The content in the article can be categorized into front matter, body matter and back matter.
  2. Each category typically includes specific items.
  3. If any of the items are misplaced in another category, we need to place that in the correct position by following the below steps, 
    1. Front matter: Article title, author names, affiliation, abstract, keywords. 
    2. Body matter: Body text (Introduction, Materials and methods, Results and discussion, conclusion), floats (figures, tables, equations, box, videos etc.), 
    3. Back matter: References, metadata information (funding details, contribution details, acknowledgement, data availability statement, patient consent, ethics approval, etc.), supplementary files, appendix, sub-articles, etc. 

1. Move up: 

  1. This option is used to move the selected items upwards one step at a time. 

‘Before’ 

 

  1. Select the items that you want to move up. 

 

‘After’ 

 

Note: Repeat the steps again until the selected item reaches the desired position. 

2. Move down: 

  1. This option is used to move the selected items downwards one step at a time. 

‘Before’ 

 

  1. Select the items that you want to move down. 

 

‘After’ 

 

Note: Repeat the steps again until the selected item reaches the desired position. 

3. Merge with previous/Merge with next: 

  1. These options are used to merge a paragraph with the previous or next section.
  2. For instance, here a single paragraph is split into two different paragraphs. 

 

  1. Place the cursor in the desired position. 
  2. Click ‘Edit’ and select ‘Merge with previous’ if you want to merge the selected paragraph with previous paragraph.

  2. Click the enter key in your keyboard or click ‘Edit’ and select ‘Merge with next’ if you want to merge the selected paragraph with next paragraph.

  • 4. Move to other sections: 

  1. This helps to move the contents to other sections.
  1. For instance, if a section that belongs to front matter is misplaced in body matter, you will fix it by following the steps below. 
  • Move to prev. section top:

  • Move to prev. section bottom: 

  • ‘Before’ 

     

    ‘After’ 

     

  • Move to next. section top: 

  • ‘Before’ 

     

    ‘After’ 

     

  • Move to next. section bottom:
